PASSION AND COMPASSION

As a Field study student and Future educator, I understand and see the real world in teaching. After observing inside and outside the campus I realized a lot. Before I took Education, my view about teaching is that being a teacher was only about teaching. A profession that does nothing but make lesson plans and impart knowledge to students. But in reality, it’s not. Being a teacher means touching and reaching the lives of the students. As a teacher we must mold our students not only academically but also their emotions, skills, and self-belief. When I experienced teaching off campus when my Critic teacher was absent, I experienced all the situations that happen inside the classroom. I have experienced encountering children who come in without pocket money, children who come in late for various reasons such as they still have a lot of responsibilities at home and there are others who have family problems. But despite what they are going through in life, they still persist in going to school and learning. This is where I became aware of the real life inside the teaching world, and this also strengthened my passion for teaching.

As a teacher, we must be strong for our students because most of them draw strength from us. We need to be able to show our students how to face the challenges in life ahead of us. And through this we will be able to test how passionate we are about what we do. To be a good teacher, we must not only use our mind to impart knowledge, but we must need to have a soft heart that can reach our students who are in need, not just financially but even emotionally. We will serve as their second mother who will guide and teach them the right path to their future. That’s why it is appropriate that before we enter into being a teacher, we need to be strong in whatever things we face and we're ready to help students who are in need not only academically but also in other aspects of their lives. And so to my fellow future teacher, always remember to be considerate at all times and let us become an inspiration of our students and not be the reason for them not reaching their dreams. We always remember that all students have different experiences in life, and we should not be the cause of ruining their lives.
